26 January that is Republic Day which celebrated in the whole country with gaiety, rather it has the status of a national festival. This year the country is celebrating the 73rd Republic Day. India got independence on 15 August 1947. Since then, every year 15 August celebrated as Independence Day and on 26 January 1950, the Constitution of India was adopted and under it, India was declared a national democratic sovereign and republic country, in which national holidays is declared. Also throughout the country national flag get hoisted.
In a democratic country like India, the day of 26th January is very important, which is celebrated by the whole country, but not everyone has information about some important things related to its history. Know Some important things of this day today.
1 Why is this year’s republic special
There are some reasons why this year’s Republic day is special. This is happening for the second time in the history of the country when no one is coming as a Chief guest in the country. Such decision has been taken under the covid protocol.Along with this, the Amar Jawan Jyoti will not burn at India Gate because it has been merged with the National War Memorial. Another special thing is that now the Republic Day program will start from January 27. Till last year it used to be on 24th January. It may be noted that the birth anniversary of Subhash Chandra Bose is celebrated on 23 January.
2 What is the reason for celebrating Republic Day
After the independence of the country, there was an issue of making its own constitution thereafter adopted by the Indian Constitution on 26 November 1949 after it was ready. But on 26 January 1950, by implementing the Constitution with a democratic government system, India was declared a fully republic country and since then 26 January was celebrated as Republic Day.
3 When and how did the country celebrate Republic Day for the first time
The first President of India, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, made the historic announcement of the birth of the Indian Republic by reciting the Indian National Flag after taking a twenty-one gun salute on 26 January, 894 days after the country’s independence.
4 Who hoists the flag on Republic Day
Like Independence Day, on Republic Day too, the whole country hoists flags with gaiety at every place. The most special flag hoisting is considered to be of Delhi. Where on Republic Day, the President of the country does flag hoisting and takes the salute of the parade. This task was entrusted to the Prime Minister of the country on the Independence Day.
5 Some highlights of the Indian Constitution
The Constitution of India is considered to be the largest hand written constitution in the world. In the making of the constitution, 389 members were selected from all over the country, who adopted the constitution after many discussions and amendments. It took 2 years 11 months 18 days to make the constitution. It had 22 parts, 395 articles and schedules. At present it has 25 parts, 470 articles and 12 schedules. The original copy of the Constitution was written in both Hindi and English, by Prem Bihari Narayan Raizada. Presently or safely kept in the Nitrogen Gas Chamber in the Library of Parliament House.
