What are the rules related to Paternity Leave in India

If you look at the rules of paternity leave in India, then a male employee of the central government gets a paternity leave of 15 days. The same companies like Mishu, Flipkart, Amazon also give paternity leave according to their rules. But there is no rule for private companies. Whereas in Delhi, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Bihar, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, leave can be taken at any time within 6 months of the delivery of the child or before the 15th day of the delivery date. Wherein in Meghalaya, it can be taken 7 days before or within six months of birth of child.

Why is paternity leave necessary?

The child grows in the mother’s womb and even after birth, they have first contact with the mother. Therefore, the bonding of the child with the mother automatically becomes quite intimate. But this often does not happen with the father because due to busy work schedule, he is not able to give much time to the child only after the birth of the fetus. But in the present circumstances, where nuclear family is in trend, in such a situation it is very important for the father also to be in touch with the child so that the child starts recognising the voice and face of the father. It is believed that if the father stays with the child, then the remaining face is recognized in about two weeks. At the same time, the partner can also be helped in domestic work at this time, because after the birth of the child, the mother’s body becomes very weak.The most important thing about paternity leave is that in this the company cannot deduct their employee salary.
